Don’t depend on others for your happiness

Yes, that is yet another part of it. We should definitely not rely on others because that is fleeting but human nature requires some dependence at times, doesn’t it?

I cannot lie. To live my life without my dear wife
would be a different life. Would I be happy? I don’t know.

You never know. That is the question I am having all the time too. So, I want to believe that real happiness comes from within (and it does) but given the stress that comes with being a PhD student, I feel the need to depend on others at times. Maybe, it is a default versus exception kind of situation. Our default should be being happy by being ourselves but some situations call for exceptions.

Yeah, and I think that is fine. As long as it does not become your main strategy.
