The award is a way that we recognize and support each other as bloggers, and especially to show that we appreciate how much time, work, energy, and effort goes into producing and maintaining a high-quality blog. It is a humbling experience to be recognized from my fellow blogger.

How My Blog Got Started?

I used to write short stories when I was a kid. Then, as a result of the education system we have and also my environment at the time, I focused too much on my school work and did not write for about 13 years. Almost at all.

Then, maybe because I had got to do all I had in mind, I started writing out of nowhere a few years ago. I was writing whenever I felt like. No schedule. At the time, I was still discovering what I liked writing. Then, it occurred to me that I could have a blog. It was actually my dream to be an author because then I could share my writing with everyone. But that blog was still trial-and-error. So, I just tried to see if I could keep a blog at all. I generally do not like being in the public eye too much, so I just wanted to see.

Then, December 2018, I was traveling to Belgium for a conference. On my flight from LA to Newark, I just had this very sudden urge to write a story. I took my laptop out on the plane and wrote my first story. I had a about four hours of transfer wait at Newark, so I was not really sure how to spend that time. I abruptly decided that I will reorganize my old blog and publish the story I just wrote.

I sat down and did that. I cleaned up everything from the old blog and published my first story and got on the plane to Brussels.

That is how it started.

 

Two Pieces of Advice for New Bloggers

-Don’t feel forced to do things just to gain followers. When you discover yourself, followers will come. You should not ignore followers, obviously. But don’t get stuck on that point.

-See your blog as your friend. Not as a competitive area. That is how you can actually enjoy it.
