The boys, all 15 coincidentally, had just finished playing soccer in the field. Each headed to their own home. John, the shortest of them all, had played well today but he still did not feel good. The man kept walking toward John even after he saw him. John leaned back. The man stopped. He wore jeans and work boots and a Giants cap on his six foot seven inch frame. John swallowed. Had he ever seen somebody this big in real life? had he ever seen anybody that tall on TV? He said, “What do you want, mister?”
The man pointed toward John’s soccer ball.
“You want the ball?”
The man said, “I used to play.”
A twinkle sparkled in the man’s eyes. John smiled. They probably came from past memories of playing on the soccer field-triumphs and disappointments and life lessons.
The man said, “I’ll show you some pointers, especially against tall guys like me.”
John’s soccer career would be getting better…

That is a very nice hopeful ending! Giant guy with the Giants hat was a blessing for John! Thank you!:)

Hope, his dog, came to wipe his tears. Licked him and hugged him tight. Cheered him with his fluffy tail and they went out to play soccer for a while.
