Hi everyone,
Let’s talk about what we like about ourselves today. What side of our personality do we like best? What can we do well?
We tend to see the negative aspects of us. We focus on what we cannot do, should not do, will not do etc. These have their places too. True, we cannot do some things. It is not possible for us to be able to do everything. Yes, we should have boundaries and should not do everything. Same with things we will not do. But we tend to overuse these in general. We sometimes use ‘cannot’ even when we can. So, in this post, I want us to highlight what we can do and more generally what we like about ourselves. I want us to highlight the good aspects of us. I will do it in the post and you can do it in the comments.

“Likes” are contextual. Negotiation skills are excellent in some situations, and merely look weak in others. A sense of purpose is more stable, more foundational. You can assess progress and consistency against purpose. And I would argue, lacking purpose, you aren’t going to like yourself very much!

That is a good point! Yes, we need to look deeper into our abilities and what they mean. It is important to get something good out of our abilities too.

Hmmmm, that’s a tough ask for my personality. Even when I mention a positive, I tend to follow it with a negative. For example, I’m very honest and loyal…but often both to a fault. So I can positively say that I’m very “balanced” ha ha. I’m driven to create. I’m insatiably curious. Geez, this is tough. I’m generous with my time for anybody who needs an ear or a shoulder. I’m kind, sensitive, patient, tolerant, and reliable (or did I just learn that in boy scouts?). Ok, let me stuff all that back into my shadow now. 😊

Yes, boundaries can serve us well and keep us from getting into things we can’t get out of. On the other hand, when I recognize one of my strengths as resourcefulness, it gets me to push the boundaries a bit. Maybe I actually can do something I didn’t think I could do before.

Yes, that is a very good way to utilize this perspective! That is how we improve, right?

Hmmm… What if you see good things in yourself, but others will only see your negatives? That alone can affect your life and future since we arguably depend on others in life, no?

Yes it can. I think in that case, first we need to check how we are projecting ourselves (whether our intentions and actions are misaligned). If they are not misaligned, then, I believe we should focus on us and try to deal with possible isolation. But this is a very detailed question, so there are many aspects that need to be discussed.

Thank you for sharing!!.. don’t have any boundaries here, I just follow my heart.. I will never know what I am capable of, or not, unless I try… I will not be going to my grave saying “What if”… 🙂

Happy Valentines Day and on this day, and every day..
May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your way,
May songbirds serenade your
every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
